But have you ever wondered how the computer understands even 0's and 1's? All signals sent to a computer are electrical. There are two types of electrical signals: analog and digital. Most of the signals used in our homes are analog. Computers primarily understand only digital signals. You can get a good idea of the signal from the figure above.
As shown in the picture, the computer uses the analog signal coming into the house by converting it to digital. This digital signal is considered 1 when it is at the upper level and 0 when it is at the lower level. This is how the computer understands the language of 0's and 1's. These signals are generated by system software. This system software is named after different companies such as the system software Windows developed by Microsoft. And the system software developed by Apple is Mac OS. Most people are familiar with Windows. When we open any file, how does the system software know what kind of file it is, whether it is a song, or a video or some other file. The system software reads the file with it's file format. It is written at the end of each file name to identify it, which is called file format. Like the file format of the song is MP3. This way any system software knows what kind of file it is.
